Loving in Preparation

Hello to a new week! I started back to my normal routine at work today after my little kids (I'm a nanny) were out of town for the past week. Last week was a much appreciated break from the day-to-day of watching two children , but I sure did miss them!
They are two of my favorite people and they make going to work more fulfilling. I watch a little boy, who is two, and a 4 month old little girl. When they are so young, seeing them for the first time in a week is like seeing two new people. They change so much! The boy (I'll call him E) is expanding his vocabulary so much on a daily basis. When I see him everyday, it isn't such a shock to hear words like 'bulldozer' or phrases like "silly Mush" (Mush is what E calls me... I've been called worse). It was so fun to hear all the new things he has learned this past week. The baby (whom I will call C) was not very easily entertained when they left last week. Imagine my surprise when I heard her giggling on several occasions throughout the day today!
I am so looking forward to having my own children. But God has been gracious to give me a job that prepares me to be the mother I feel He has called me to be. Although I often complain about the diapers, the crying, and the repetitive schedule that being a nanny brings, I know that God has blessed me in this season of preparation. So until I have children of my own, I will pray that God blesses me with the ability to love this little boy and girl as He sees fit and that I learn to (as my friend Mary says) "find joy in the mundane."
